Can you explain in detail about a startup?
Repos Energy facilitates doorstep delivery of fuel for industries to minimize diesel loss and make the procurement process more efficient. The customers can order the required amount of diesel on ther app and track its delivery at real time.
They have customized browsers to minimize diesel loss and Smart Fuel Dispensers to make transactions fast and easy.
I wished to make the fuel procurement process easier, having seen the troubles first-hand. My wife was always someone with a desire to work for a cause greater than the self that would serve the country. Together, we came up with Repos, a way to efficiently deliver fuel and streamline the procurement process across the country.
How did your journey start towards your startup from planning to funding?
Right from the start, we had decided to be self-funded and not look for investors. While it seemed like a huge risk at the time, it was Ratan Tata who reaffirmed our stance by advising us to go all in and not wait around for funding. We took the leap of faith and here we are today, still not looking for funding.
Is your startup growing at good phase according to your plans? What are the upcoming plans from your end?
Yes, I would say Repos Energy is growing at a fantastic pace. We are soon going to be in 32 cities across India. In the near future, I see us scaling up in these 32 cities fast.
What your stack on the competition? who are your competitors? How you are overcoming them?
I believe competition is a part of any business and some level of competition is necessary to ensure you keep performing. I believe what sets you apart from competitors is the unique touch you can bring in. For us, our upper-hand is in our use of IoT and Big Data instead of focusing on gaining aggregators. We do not go to aggregators with our product, but they come to us as they realize the ease of the integrated technology we use.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In five years, I see us having 32,000 mobile petrol pumps across the country, delivering 16 crore liters of fuel per day. That is 5840 crore liters per year, which is nearly 50% of India’s total diesel requirement per year!
As you said you are 31 years old, what you want to suggest to your age group?
My advice to my age group would be to think like leaders and take risks. Learn to adapt to technology and efficiently use it. Lastly, look to yourself for inspiration and whatever you do, do it from your own resources.
